Animal Behavior

Catalog description

This course investigates the behavioral patterns and processes demonstrated by animals. Students will examine feeding, reproduction, defense, social organization, communication, and spatial behavior using examples from a variety of animal taxa. Investigation of behavior will include their physical and biochemical basis, ecological function, evolutionary relevance, and development over the lifespan. Topics include Laboratory includes fieldwork and other activities to provide experience in methods and challenges of investigating behavior in natural settings.
