Catalog description

Course Description: This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts in neurobiology. This is an upper-level course designed to provide an overview of the structure and function of the human brain. Topics include structural and functional properties of neurons, neuronal communication, brain control of movements, feeding behavior, pain, anger, aggression, learning and memory, cognitive disorders and psychiatric illness including anxiety disorders, depression and schizophrenia. By the course's conclusion, students will have acquired an integrated understanding of the fundamental principles in neurobiology and its intersections with various health science domains.
