Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the application of continuum mechanics to soft tissues that undergo large deformations. Calculations of stress and strain in biological tissues, such as blood vessels, will be covered. Constitutive laws for soft tissues will be introduced. Hyperelastic and viscoelastic materials will be studied. Solid mechanics techniques will be used to build models of predictive growth and remodeling of soft tissues.
