Catalog description

This course introduces students to art history as a discipline through the theme of technology by examining a series of important artworks from historic cultures within a global context. These works will serve as entry points into varied artistic traditions whose study will develop students' analytic skills. The use of modern technologies from imaging and digital reconstruction to chemical analysis and artificial intelligence will be examined to understand how analyses and interpretations are formed and changed over time.
