Catalog description

Prerequisite: HIT 100 with a grade of C or higher. Corequisite: HIT 100. Course covers medical records as legal documents focusing on procedures involved in court disclosure of medical records; laws pertaining to release of information from medical records; and medical record requirements for accrediting, approving, licensing, and certifying agencies. Covers laws and regulations governing preparation and use of medical records, responsibilities of physician, risk of malpractice, and physician's role in the hospital.
