Human Motivation

Catalog description

Motivation can be thought of as what energizes and directs human behavior, and when studying motivation, researchers attempt to ask to questions: a) What causes behavior? and b). What causes behavior to vary in intensity? This course examines the major issues and theories that describe and explain human motivation across the globe. Individuals behavior is examined from biological, psychological, and social perspectives. Students will analyze and integrate information from empirical research in psychology, in order to develop an understanding of motivation that is applicable to all individuals, including students own lives. The concepts learned in this course can be applied to across a multitude of settings including leading, managing, counseling, nursing, teaching, and parenting. View Sample Syllabus
