Catalog description

This course describes the infrastructures, components and protocols of a wide range of wireless technologies. The course commences with a brief review of networking fundamentals including software and hardware used for interconnection of traditional wired networks. Examines existing wireless technologies such as global positioning satellite (GPS), cellular digital packet data (CDPD), general packet radio service (GPRS), infra-red (IR), the operation and protocols for simplex tone and data paging systems, and local multi-point communication systems (LMCS). Addresses future technologies such as Bluetooth, digital audio broadcast (DAB) and IMT2000. View Sample Syllabus
