Introduction to Engineering Analysis

Catalog description

This course introduces you to the role of engineering analysis in multiple engineering disciplines. You will apply basic principles, tools, and methods while performing engineering analyses of mechanics, electrical circuits, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and finally, data analysis, including graphing and basic statistics. The general analysis procedure will be learned and applied to provide a basis of systematically approaching engineering applications and analyses. Additionally, the disciplined process of evaluating engineering situations, defining known and unknown variables, establishing equation-based approaches, and applying units and unit conversions will be utilized to develop the foundation for effective engineering analyses. Finally, methods and processes for using engineering data and developing effective analysis and communication tools, such as graphs and statistical analyses, are explored to develop the foundation for communicating to engineering and non-engineering reviewers. Algebra (non-calculus-based approaches) will be used throughout. View Sample Syllabus
