Excelsior University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course will teach leaders to see their organization as a system, as a whole, that sits within an external ecosystem for which they are responsible for understanding the impact of their organization on society. It will also focus on the internal connections that exist between leadership, culture, organizational structures, the use of technology for improved organizational efficiency and production, and the use of data for enhanced knowledge creation and management. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their understanding of all organizations as systems that operate through non-linear connections between human behavior, technological systems, and knowledge input and outputs in the form of various data types that determine organizational efficiency and excellence, or organization failure. Students will have the chance to act as professional organizational consultants, conducting a full organizational analysis project at the company-wide level for a holistic overview of the three key areas of organizational functioning: Leadership of human systems, technological engagement and advancement and learning through an understanding of data analytics.
