This course presents an overview of risk, vulnerability, and resilience. Students will examine the impact of human settlement patterns, land use decisions, and technology on communities and populations. The course explores the social and political dynamics that are present at each stage of the disaster management cycle, and their impacts on the assessment and management of the social and political processes associated with disaster policy and planning.
