Catalog description

Provides an overview of basic reading skills and specific comprehension and vocabulary skills through a focus on the Science of Reading. Strategies and disciplinary skills for classroom inquiry, discussions on the purpose of text, and engaging approaches in disciplinary literacy instruction are examined. Field placement of six hours is included and corresponds to EDUC 419, Internship for Integrated Math and Science Curriculum. To be taken fall of junior year for secondary education majors and spring of junior year for elementary education majors.
