Plumbing practices, history, laws, codes, regulations and responsibility to the public. Usage and maintenance of hand and power tools. Workplace safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. Application of basic plumbing calculations and principles of science as they relate to plumbing system installation and maintenance. Characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and uses of pipe and tube. Fittings for cast-iron, glass, clay, concrete, copper, steel, plastic. Special materials and galvanic action. Piping connections.
