A hands-on introduction to daily stable operations in the care and management of horses. Practical experience with various assigned horses in basic horse husbandry, horsemanship, and stable management. Development of ground handling skills during various activities related to the care of horses. Effective use of lunge line and round penning techniques. Topics include feeding, watering, stable sanitation, grooming, bathing, lameness exams, vaccines, blood draws, parasite control, safety, horse behavior, health, wounds and their treatments, veterinary forms and recordkeeping.
