Catalog description

This foundational algebra course, designed for majors that require MTH 100 , includes essential topics from both MTH 086 and MTH 092. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the reinforcement of arithmetic concepts and the development of algebraic skill. Topics covered include simplifying arithmetic and algebraic expressions, performing operations on signed numbers, fractions and percents, translating verbal expressions into algebraic expressions, solving first-degree equations and proportions with applications, solving geometric applications and using scientific notation.
