Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to ethical hacking and penetration testing techniques used to assess and improve the security of information systems. Students examine attacker methodologies, common vulnerabilities, and exploitation techniques within legally authorized and controlled environments. Topics include reconnaissance, scanning and enumeration, system and web application exploitation, wireless security, malware analysis, social engineering, and penetration testing methodologies. Emphasis is placed on ethical and legal considerations, the responsible use of offensive security tools, and professional documentation. Through structured laboratory exercises and a team-based capstone project, students develop technical skills necessary for entry-level cybersecurity and penetration testing roles.
