Introduction to Race Class & Gender ((4 Credits))

Catalog description

In this introductory course, students will gain an overview of the ways in which race, class, and gender shape individuals’ identities and experiences, as well as social institutions, in the United States, today and in the past. Students will become familiar with major social science approaches to inequality, power, and oppression. More specifically, students will examine how race, class, gender, and other forms of social difference constitute intersecting systems of identity, solidarity, and oppression that impact everyone’s lives.
