Catalog description

This course focuses on the various ways that psychology (the study of human behavior) influences and interacts with various health outcomes. Topics may include factors that influence seeking health care; adherence to medical advice; the experience of stress; the experience of pain; coping with stress and pain; behavior and chronic disease; preventing injuries; addictive behaviors and health; and issues related to weight control and exercise. While it is not required, it might be helpful if students have taken Introduction to Psychology or an equivalent course. This course is part of the BS in Public Health program.
