In this course, we will explore different theoretical approaches to democracy as a form of government that promotes equity, justice, and the inclusion of citizens in their own governance. We will examine the way that power, privilege, justice, and rights exist within complex networks of social structures and systems. It is recommended that students have a foundational understanding of the U.S. political system, such as might be acquired in POLI 2010 , or an equivalent study.
