This course provides students with an overview of the field of human services. The student will examine the roles and responsibilities of human service professionals. The course will explore the organizational structures and range of services in the field. The foundational knowledge of the field, introduction to basic skills, and strategies used will be introduced. Ethical principles and the core values necessary for working in the field of human services will be explored. Students will reflect on the broader social influences that impact roles within the field of human services. This course is aligned with the Community and Human Services Area of Study guidelines for Knowledge of Service Delivery, Skills & Application, and Ethics. This course is aligned with the BS in Addiction Studies program guidelines for Skills, Ethics, and Application & Integration. This course was previously CHS-252094 Introduction to Human Services.
