Catalog description

This course provides an applied learning experience through a supervised internship in a finance or finance-related professional setting. Internships may take place in financial institutions, corporations, investment firms, insurance companies, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, or other organizations engaged in financial activities. Students earn academic credit by applying financial theories, analytical tools, and concepts learned in prior coursework to real-world professional responsibilities. The internship integrates academic learning with practical experience and allows students to develop professional, analytical, and communication skills relevant to the finance profession. Each internship is supervised by a workplace mentor and a faculty advisor to ensure academic rigor and alignment with program learning outcomes. Students complete structured reflection assignments and/or a final project that connects their professional experiences to financial concepts, ethical standards, and career development in the field of finance. Prerequisites: FSMA 3010 Corporate Finance, or any upper-level finance study, or instructor permission.
