Catalog description
In this seminar course, students explore the fields of Environmental Science as they examine the body of academic and professional research in the geological, hydrological, atmosphere, and ecological sciences including historical and current research endeavors. Students critically review and analyze environmental science research, including academic journal articles, professional reports, and case studies, through the theoretical frameworks of systems science and environmental ethics. Students explore the use of technology in environmental science research and communication. Students reflect on potential ways they can contribute academically and professionally to the field of Environmental Science in the future. Potential topics of focus include agroecosystems and food security, conservation and restoration, forest systems, global climates, natural disasters, natural resources management, and water quality.
