Catalog description

This course examines key mathematical ideas that underlie middle and high school mathematics, with an emphasis on developing deep conceptual understanding. Topics may include number and operations; variables and algebraic expressions; functions, including linear and quadratic relationships; geometry; and precalculus concepts, explored through multiple representations, reasoning, and problem solving. The course also examines common student approaches and misconceptions related to these topics, with attention to how teachers can support meaningful understanding of mathematical concepts and create engaging learning environments in secondary classrooms.
