Catalog description

In this early childhood observation experience, students will begin to apply their knowledge of special education and the inclusion of young children with exceptionalities in classroom situations. Students will focus on how to provide instruction that will promote engagement, understanding, participation, progress, and performance of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum through evidence-based instruction. Emphasis will be placed on the development of an agency appropriate for the individual needs of the child. Please note: Enrollment in the Early Childhood Education program is required. Additionally, observation hours are required as per New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements. As a required program course, a grade of C+ or above is needed. Prerequisites: ECET 3037 Professional Preparation for Early Childhood Education. Corequisites: EDSP 2025 Introduction to Special Education.
