This course provides an introduction to the core body of knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions early childhood educators must demonstrate to effectively promote the development, learning, and well-being of all young children, birth through grade 2. Topics include historical influences, program types, observation and assessment, developmentally and culturally appropriate practice across the developmental domains, professionalism, ethics, and current issues and trends including the New York State Learning Standards, with attention to the use of developmentally appropriate instructional technologies.
