Building Communication and Teamwork in the Classroom ((3 Credits))

Catalog description

Building Communication and Teamwork in the Classroom is a 3-credit hour course that is designed to elevate the positive communication and purposeful interactions with and among students. Participants learn a variety of verbal skills that focus on listening and understanding; expressing empathy; communicating support and approval; fostering positive relationships; deescalating resistances; negotiating and compromising; and communicating directives and consequences. Participants explore strategies for enhancing communication skills and collaborative teamwork in students, using activities that ensure students are connected to school, to learning, to the teacher, and to one another.
