This course provides a comprehensive examination of organized crime, focusing on its definitions, models, and organizational structures. Students will differentiate between theoretical frameworks and explore the evolution and complexity of organized crime groups, both in the United States and globally. Through case studies and critical analysis, the course investigates the interrelationships among domestic crime organizations, with particular attention to labor and business racketeering. Topics may include the enterprise theory of organized crime, the significance of ethnic composition in criminal organizations, and the pivotal role of law enforcement in investigating and combating organized crime.
