Catalog description

Preparing for College Writing is a developmental, non-credit course designed to introduce students to the fundamental practices of academic writing and prepare them to enter college-level writing studies. This course will begin with a focus on sentence and paragraph structure and progress to essay structure, with targeted attention given to the development and support of the topic sentence and thesis statement. Students will be introduced to the writing process through drafting and revision of their assignments. For selected students identified during the admission process, this course is a pre-requisite for College Writing (4 credits). It may also be taken by other students identified by their mentors. This course is pass/fail.
