Catalog description

This advanced bridge course is designed to prepare students for upper-level study in Digital Communication by reinforcing core academic and digital skills expected across the program. Intended for students entering from a variety of transfer pathways, the course emphasizes applied competencies rather than introductory theory. Students refresh and strengthen their ability to locate, evaluate, and cite scholarly and professional sources; work with digital materials such as graphics, documents, and datasets; apply basic spreadsheet and data-handling skills; and engage strategically and ethically with artificial intelligence tools. Through applied assignments grounded in students’ own digital environments and practices, the course ensures a shared baseline of skills and academic readiness for advanced coursework in digital communication, social media, data visualization, and media analysis. Prerequisites: College Writing or the equivalent.
