Relying on theory and research related to marital dissolution and remarriage, students will examine the impact of separation, divorce, and family reconstitution on children and adults in various family roles across multiple social situations. The course emphasizes how individuals and families experience both loss and renewal as they navigate transitions such as co-parenting, blended family dynamics, and stepfamily formation. Students will also explore policy implications and practical applications relevant to relational dissolution and remarriage, with particular attention to the ways these processes intersect with social systems and cultural expectations. Note: This course aligns with the Community and Human Services area of study guidelines for Knowledge of Human Behavior.
