BUSN 4050
AI-Integrated Business Strategy ((4 Credits))
Empire State University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This advanced capstone-level course examines how organizations combine business strategy with AI-driven and agentic business transformation. Designed for students who have already developed professional AI fluency in prior coursework, the course focuses on the organization as the unit of analysis and on the strategic leadership challenges created by AI-enabled and agentic change. Students analyze how AI reshapes strategic decision-making, implementation, and evaluation across business functions, including market intelligence, operations, finance, governance, and organizational design. A central feature of the course is AI-supported and agentic “what-if” scenario analysis, through which students test assumptions, compare strategic alternatives, evaluate competitive positions, and design transformation pathways that combine human judgment with agentic workflows. The course culminates in a comprehensive AI-integrated business strategy and transformation plan supported by evidence, reusable workflows, governance artifacts, scenario models, and implementation recommendations. This course uses advanced generative AI and agentic AI tools as part of normal coursework. To preserve flexibility in a rapidly changing environment, the final list of approved tools will be confirmed before the term begins. Students should expect to work with one or more advanced, paid AI platforms, most likely including ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, Manus, and related approved platforms. The course may allow a bring-your-own-AI approach within instructor-approved boundaries, but all tools used for graded work must meet course requirements for reliability, traceability, privacy, and workflow compatibility. Prior undergraduate coursework in business, management, economics, or related fields is expected. Students should have foundational preparation in core business disciplines and be ready for advanced, integrative strategic analysis across organizational functions. Prior experience with advanced generative AI capabilities, including multi-step workflows, verification, and tool-supported analysis, is expected. No coding experience is required. Prerequisites: BUSN 3000 Applied Generative AI for Business Professionals and either ECON 3006 AI-Driven Strategies for Local Businesses in the Global Economy or MRKT 4060 AI-Driven Advanced Marketing .
