Catalog description

This course examines global problems and the culture of capitalism through anthropological, historical, economic, and sociological lenses. The impact of globalization will be analyzed in terms of politics, economics, race and ethnicity, and gender and culture. Topics may include the rise and fall of the merchant, industrialist, and financier; hunger, poverty, and economic development; indigenous groups and ethnic conflict; religion and anti-systematic protest; population growth, migration, and urbanization; health and disease; the history and function of the nation-state. Prerequisites: Introduction to Business or Equivalent .
