Catalog description

This course examines how businesses engaged in global operations can formulate and execute strategies that reconcile profitability with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Emphasizing the complexities of global markets, students will critically analyze key sustainability challenges, including climate change, environmental degradation, and social inequality, and evaluate the responses of multinational corporations (MNCs), small exporters, and transnational supply chains. The course will explore the tensions and synergies between global business expansion and sustainability imperatives through case studies and empirical examples. Although centered on business practices, the course invites students from diverse academic disciplines to enrich discussions with interdisciplinary insights into sustainable global development. Prerequisites: Introduction to Business or equivalent.
