Catalog description

This course examines Generative AI as a strategic component of modern business information systems and as an information-literacy practice for business professionals. Students learn to integrate tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini Pro / NotebookLM into professional workflows, progressing from generative reasoning to grounded synthesis for reliable research. Emphasis is placed on practical application: students will configure no-code AI assistants, automate administrative tasks, and conduct data-driven competitive analysis. Throughout the course, students apply responsible AI practices—privacy and security safeguards for confidential information, intellectual property and disclosure norms, and bias/appropriateness checks—while evaluating information quality (authority, validity, origin) across both traditional sources and AI outputs. Assessment focuses on information integrity, requiring students to verify AI outputs against real-world data and document how AI was used. Introductory knowledge of any generative AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Grok, or Google Gemini, is desirable. No coding experience is required. Prerequisites: Introduction to Business or equivalent .
