An exploration of the hidden lives of plants, this course introduces students to plant behavior and how plants experience the world. Students examine how plants perceive and respond to light, gravity, sound, touch, and other environmental cues, drawing comparisons to animal systems. Topics include plant anatomy and physiology, hormonal signaling, communication, learning, memory, and the evolving debate around plant intelligence. Students engage with scientific research and multimedia resources to investigate how plants adapt to their environments and interact with one another. The course offers a foundation in plant biology while encouraging students to think critically about the complexity of plant life.
