Biology II with Lab ((4 Credits))

Catalog description

Biology II with Lab is the second course of the two-term sequence in general biology for science concentrations. This course serves as an introduction to the basic principles of biology, primarily in the domain of microbial, plant and animal biology. Themes explored include: the biological diversity of bacteria, archaea, protists, and fungi; plant form and function, including plant structure, growth, development, and transport; animal form and function, including digestion, respiration, immune responses, excretion, endocrinology, reproduction, and neurology. The study of life forms is presented in the context of the principles of evolution and ecology and emphasizes the importance of interactions among organisms. This course uses a mandatory hands-on lab kit to provide students an authentic laboratory experience. The kit (in addition to the textbook) will add an additional cost to the Course Materials.
