Catalog description

Advanced Studio Practice is designed as a culminating or capstone study for students enrolled in the Visual Arts and Design program. This course is an online forum for students to exchange and share their art work; learn about current trends and exhibitions in the art world; become informed about significant issues in contemporary art; reflect upon their purpose as an artist in society; and build a digital portfolio of their art work and writing. Note: Students in the Visual Arts and Design Program must take at least one of the program’s capstone courses but may elect to take both: ARTS 4005 Advanced Studio Practice and/or ARTS 4080 Thriving in the Visual Arts: Strategies for Career Success. Students working on Arts degrees with concentrations such as Visual Art, Photography, and other fine arts degrees may also take these courses if the prerequisites have been met. Prerequisites: Before taking this course, students need to complete at least 8 credits of art theory and/or art history and at least 12 credits of advanced study in studio art, in areas such as painting, sculpture, digital media, digital painting, photography, or similar.
