Catalog description

Students will learn about the major artists, movements, and intellectual and cultural ideas that we normally associate with the broad span of late 18th into the 19th century. We will cover Neoclassicism, Romanticism, the Barbizon School, Realism, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and Impressionism in the arts, as well as some issues relating to the avant-garde, social protest, feminism, racism and the image of the artist.
