Catalog description

Issues in Contemporary Art is an advanced study of the art as well as the historical and theoretical issues from the Eighties through the current decade. The methodology includes an analysis of the thematic frameworks which characterize the development and meaning of contemporary art, through the examination of related social and cultural issues, an overview of global museum and gallery exhibitions, and the development of a scholarly research project. It is recommended that students have completed ARTS 3010 20th Century Art History I before registering for this course. Prerequisites: At least one lower-level art history course or equivalent knowledge.
