Catalog description

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts, techniques, and terminologies of drawing, including the elements of design such as perspective, line, shape, proportion, and texture. Drawing is an essential practice of learning how to see, and/or represent forms in space on a two-dimensional surface. Working from direct observation, students will learn and practice art techniques by using various black and white drawing materials and tools. Drawing topics will include the genres of still life, interior, gesture/figure drawing, and landscape, including examples from art history.
