Tribal Nations predate the founding of the United States and provide valuable insight into governance, identity and politics. This course examines the unique political systems of the 600+ Native Nations in North America and their intersection with American political institutions. We will explore historical and contemporary issues related to tribal sovereignty, representation, federal Indian policy, economic development, administration and community.
