GEN 048
Color Theory
Emory University-Oxford College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course explores both the perception and science of color. Through experiential projects and seminar, students will examine color through multiple lenses: biological, optical, artistic and cultural. Manipulation and organization of color will be studied along with perceptual processes and color's cultural ability to empower, transform and transfix. Paint, pigment and light will all be used. This course is technical in nature but builds in expressive opportunities for students, especially in the form of a final semester student-directed project. This is an experiential course, and thus sustained active learning is expected.
