Application of Uncrewed and Autonomous Systems

Catalog description

This course prepares students to understand the task-oriented application of uncrewed and autonomous systems and their respective elements and technologies in various operational domains and conditions. It introduces common use cases; business models; selection criteria; limitations and constraints; and ethical, safety, and legal considerations for the application of uncrewed and autonomous systems. Students will examine the use of different platforms and technologies, including their task assignment, effectiveness, cost and acquisition factors, capabilities and limitations, challenges, and future potential. Through their research, students will be able to evaluate uncrewed and autonomous system tasking, appraise environmental and operational requirements, and predict system collaboration opportunities. Students will also assess considerations for system application as they relate to ethical, safety, and legal guidelines.
