Concepts of Pharmacology

Catalog description
Prerequisite: Admission to the Nursing Program. Concurrent enrollment in NUR 142. ^ This course introduces the student to fundamental concepts of pharmacology as they apply to nursing practice. A foundational knowledge base of nursing pharmacology is acquired in the areas of legal aspects, cultural factors, complementary and alternative medicine principles, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, person education, drug administration, evaluation of drug therapy, and documentation. Application to persons across the lifespan is emphasized. Development of knowledge, skills and attitudes occurs in nursing laboratory settings.
