Prerequisite: Reading: Grade of C or better in RDG 091 or LTC 099, or satisfaction of other placement criteria. Writing: Grade of C or better in ENG 098 or LTC 099 or satisfaction of other placement criteria. ^ This course surveys the foundations of Western civilization from ancient times to 1500, focusing on major cultural, political, and technological developments. Students will explore the rise and fall of key civilizations, the impact of religion and intellectual movements, and early global interactions through trade, war, and diplomacy. Emphasis is placed on analyzing historical sources to understand how Western institutions and ideas evolved in a global context.
