Catalog description

Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in EDN 100 or consent of instructor ^ Students will be introduced to children with exceptionalities, including the historical, legal, and philosophical foundations of special education as identified by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Students will examine Universal Design for Learning, differentiation, and inclusive practices. Students will explore diversity and intersectionality of exceptional learners and the assets they bring to the classroom is included. A 30 hour directed observation is required. (1.1) Proficiency Credit Not Available Pass/No Credit Not Available <br> <BR> <a href="http://www.elgin.edu/universitytransfer"> www.elgin.edu/universitytransfer </a> <br><br> <font color="#000088">Students enrolled may be required to complete a background check/fingerprinting process in order to participate in the clinical component of this class. Students will be responsible for any fee charged. </font>
