Catalog description

Prerequisite: Reading: Grade of C or better in RDG 091 or LTC 099, or satisfaction of other placement criteria. Writing: Grade of C or better in ENG 098 or LTC 099 or satisfaction of other placement criteria. ^ Course explores how schooling is shaped by the social context in which it occurs. Students will examine aspects of their own cultural identity and biases. Students will describe aspects of learner diversity (e.g. race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, physical and neurodiversity, Multilingual Learners (linguistic diversity), sexual orientation, gender identity, religion/spiritual tradition, immigration status) and the assets that each learner brings to the classroom.
