Catalog description

Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in ART 113 ^ This course further explores intaglio and relief printmaking, with an emphasis on color work and strengthening printing skills. Students learn techniques for producing color prints using single and multiple plate processes. A balanced outcome between technical and conceptual development is stressed in discussion and critiques. (1.1) Special Note: This course involves the use of specialized tools and materials that may be hazardous, including sharp carving tools, printing presses, inks, solvents, and etching solutions used in certain processes. Students are required to follow all safety protocols, and use appropriate protective equipment when necessary. Individuals with sensitivities to oil based ink, solvents, or the physical demands of studio work should carefully consider these requirements before enrolling.
