Catalog description

This intermediate course provides further instruction and practice in combative arts used in self-defense. In addition to jiu jitsu, karate, and aikido, judo will be incorporated with grabbing, ground positioning and rolling techniques. The course includes a historical and global examination of self-defense with strategies to confront threatening situations without sustaining physical or psychological trauma. Physical fitness exercise relative to self-defense techniques and prevention of injury will be emphasized. This course will provide the student with a sense of awareness and practical application of self-defense in relation to one's gender, body type, and strength. *Some UC transferable courses have credit limitations.
