This course is a survey of the United States to 1877 with particular emphasis on the role of African Americans in shaping American society. The contributions of African Americans to the economic, political, social, and cultural development of the nation will be examined. Note: This course meets the criteria of the CSU graduation requirement for United States History, Constitution, and American Ideals. *Note: The maximum UC credit allowed for students completing History 110 and 111 and History 101 and 102 and/or History 105 and 106 is one series.
