Penal Code 832 Arrest/Firearms

Catalog description
This course is designed to meet the minimum requirements for training as required by Penal Code Section 832 and certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). The course is certified by P.O.S.T. in the areas of laws of arrest, ethical use of force, arrest and control methods, and firearms training. The course has 45 hours of lecture covering California laws of arrest and firearms, 9 hours of training in arrest and control methods, and 18 hours of training in the use of firearms, for a total of 72 hours. The course will cover the basic fundamentals of the laws of arrest, arrest and control methods, and the basic principles of firearms training that will enhance an individual's ability to meet the state's minimum requirements for employment in a law enforcement or allied agency. Note: Letter grade or pass/no pass option. Note: Students pay fees for this course for Department of Justice background check and clearance, firing range, ammunition and targets.
